Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had it’s grand opening at the Magic Kingdom in 1980, and is one of the parks busiest rides.
The ride is an outside coaster, set within a disused goldmine with you racing around the old mine’s track perched inside a rickety run-away mine train.
If you’re not that keen on coaster’s, I still urge you to give Big Thunder Mountain Railroad a crack. It is fairly mild by today’s standards, but still fast enough to give a thrill.
The lines at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad do tend to build up, so I’d urge you to visit either first thing, during the parades or take advantage of the rides fastpass. A height restriction of 40” is in force for this ride.
