The pace of change at the Orlando themeparks is unbelievable at the moment. Earthquake - The Big One has closed at Universal Studios to be replaced by a new attraction renamed Disaster!


Earthquake the ride was originally was based on the 1974 disaster movie Earthquake! starring Charlton Heston. situated in the San Francisco area of the park was an original attraction, opening at the same time as Universal Studios Orlando in 1990. The attraction was really split into two halves. The first part of Earthquake was a presentation/show that demonstrated how stunts were performed and edited into the movies (with a little help from members of the audience. The second part was the impressive subway disaster where riders could sit in a subway carriage whilst an Earthquake took place.

It is rumoured that the attraction will re-open as in December, ready for the busy holiday season. As that is only 4-6 weeks away, I wonder what significant changes they can make in that time,
