Visiting Orlando, Florida. Do I need a car?

Visiting between 2nd and 23rd April with wife and boys aged 14 and 10 (first time can't wait), staying at hotel renaissance opp sea world, wondering if we need a car as people have said the queues for transport can be a nightmare especially as we are going in busy period, any comments very welcome as we are getting a bit nervous also should we book car here or wait until we are there if we need one

I guess you are doing the whole of Orlando (and possibly beyond?). So all Disney parks, Universal, some shopping etc? My own personal opinion would be to get a car.

Your other options are taxi's which won't be cheap, Lynx buses or I-Drive trolley depending on where you are going. For example to get to Seaworld from Downtown Disney you could get on the Lynx (look here for routes LYNX - Route Listing).

I know your hotel hires cars and has an on-site Hertz office. I would imagine it's much cheaper to rent prior to your visit though.

Is it a cost issue, or are you nervous about driving in Orlando or something else?

Always worth remembering if you use Airmiles, a couple of hire car companies will take those as payment... thats how we've paid for a car for a couple of weeks this Feb!
