Whats the Orlando Weather Like?

From what I can gather, the weather in Orlando is always acceptably warm compared to the UK, but it rains a lot?

Is this correct?

Assuming going either late Nov/Dec 2007 or early Jan/Feb 2008 - what would it be like then? What sort of stuff should you pack, and what sort of weather should you expect?

Is that a good time of year to visit, or would it be better to save up like a demon and try to go in the summer?

I have visited Orlando in both Dec and Jan and the weather can be unpredictable although always warmer than UK, so be prepared for all weather extra layers, waterproofs and shorts!

You can't beat the atmosphere prior to Christmas though, although it does start to get busy and christmas itself is v busy, but with the decks and special parades its just amazing.

The good thing about Jan/Feb is it's relatively quiet, although some of the rides are shut down during this period for maintenance work, so check before you go so you don't miss out on any rides you really want to experience.

If you go in the summer please be aware that it's hot here! I live in Orlando and we regularly see high temperatures around 94ºF in the summer. It does rain a lot here but not as much as in the UK. In the past you could almost set your watch to the afternoon thunderstorms, but lately we've been in more of a drought than in the past.

If you go during winter you will only really need jeans and a hoodie. Our winter is relatively short with temperatures as low as 30ºF at night. It's a lot less busy too (except around Christmas) so that's a plus.

Going through the year:

Winter can be quite cooler than you would guess, and is very variable. Think of this period as stretching from early Novemebr thru early March
Spring is delightful until mid-May, when the rainy season begins.
Heat is remarkable from May through September.
The peak of the hurricane season is August and September
